I started playing golf my junior year at Farragut High School. Through serious pursuit and self-teaching, I continued to improve my game. By the time I graduated from the University of Tennessee I was a two handicap and starting graduate school.
While finishing graduate classes, I was presented with an opportunity to become an Assistant Golf Instructor for The Medalist at Avalon. Having a chance to work on my game and teach at the same time, I entered the golf industry.
In the Fall of 1997, I turned professional and have since been an instructor at Avalon and Fairways and Greens Golf Center.
I believe in keeping it simple. If you have an understanding of how the club is designed to work and how you swing the club, you can gain better control of where the ball goes. I find that's the name of the game, right???
So, I will teach you how the club works and how it affects the ball flight. Then, I'll show you how to swing the club properly. From there we will add body movement and tweak grip, posture and/or alignment to more effectively swing the club.
But, the bottom line is that you have to have a working knowledge of how to use the club. If not, all the other stuff is inconsequential.
